You know you need some expert help to get your online presence right, but you’re struggling to come to terms with making the investment.
I have this kind of conversation all the time with business owners. Some dabble in executing their own social media themselves (and some make a very good job of this), and for some the thought of this terrifies them.
The former usually involves a lot of googling and trial and error by the way.
Let me reassure you, you don’t have to do it all, and that’s ok. After all, a lot of us have just discovered that we are not all natural homeschoolers due to the pandemic, and that’s ok because we really aren’t trained to be.It’s exactly the same with social media!
Making a (reasonably small) investment in having some expert training in social media is so worthwhile for the following reasons –
Social Moves Fast
The platforms can change weekly. Sometimes at a pace that be completely overwhelming. Last year in fact on Instagram alone there were over 100 platform changes and updates!
A good social media manager stays on top of these changes and trains you on the need to know important things only. That means cutting through a lot of the noise out there about what every platform does/can do/is about to do, meaning you don’t waste a lot of your time.
Social Takes Time
Great execution of social media takes a significant amount of time to do brilliantly (there is a reason why larger businesses employ full time social media managers!)
Just throwing out the odd post here and there isn’t going to cut it, neither is having someone endlessly scrolling wondering what to do.
There are lots of digital tools and strategies to have in place to ensure that the time you are spending is productive and intentional, worthwhile and helping you to reach the right people. Social media managers know about which tools are right for you and your platform, and which ones you don’t need. They also know what you can use for free, and what it might be worth investing in.
Spending some time with someone who has tried and tested tools out for time-saving purposes is worth it’s weight in gold alone.
Social Platforms Are Different
The social media platforms are different in nature and speak to different audiences. You don’t need to be everywhere, despite someone telling you “you need to be on X platform you know!”
Going back to time, being present in the right way on all social platforms will also take you hours and hours of time, so unless you have a person who has multiple days allocated to social media marketing weekly, I wouldn’t suggest you do that.
Instead invest in a social media expert who knows where your target audience is likely to be (or can help you even define who he or she is), and can help you learn how to optimise those platforms in the right way. That means you’ll save time and money in the long run.
